Lloyd Conley spent most of his life in his home State of Michigan, excluding three years served with the 440th AAF Band in Florida during WWII and a one-year stint as editor at Kendor Music Publishers (1963/64). Post secondary education includes a Bachelor of Music degree from Central Michigan University (1949) and Master of Music degree from Michigan State University (1950). Most arranging know-how came through working "in the trenches" with good writers who graced the AAF Band experience. He taught instrumental music in Michigan schools for 30 years, retiring in 1979. Other related experiences include a short stint with a road band (summer, 1949), professional dance band arranging in the 50's, many combo gigs (piano),some ventures as a clinician and guest conductor, and activity as a published educational music writer since 1958 (about 550 publications with roughly 18 publishers). Recreational activities include being a "dubber" status golfer and an avid wood carver.
