Pete Havely recently retired as Head of the Department of Music and Director of Bands at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri, a position he held for 23 years.
A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Havely has 34 years of teaching experience in public schools and colleges in Oklahoma, Michigan, and Missouri. The colleges include Eastern Oklahoma State College, The University of Central Oklahoma, Missouri Southern State University, and Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan. While in Michigan, Mr. Havely served on the faculty of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
Mr. Havely is an arranger/composer, and has written many arrangements and compositions for marching band, jazz band, concert band, and vocal and instrumental ensembles. Mr. Havely’s music is currently published and distributed worldwide. He is in constant demand as an adjudicator and clinician for marching, concert, and jazz bands.
